A groundhog keeps getting into my garden
A groundhog both digs and climbs, which is why most fences fail against them. The design that works has three parts and the cleverest one costs nothing.
What actually works
◆ Proven
The floppy-top fence for groundhogs
3 ft of mesh, a buried L-apron pointing outward, and the top 12 inches left unstapled so it bends and drops them off outside.
A roll of welded wire, and one thing you deliberately don't do✕ Avoid
Live-trapping and relocating wildlife
The option people reach for. It's illegal in many states, usually fatal to the animal, and the niche refills within the season.
